SA GOVERNMENT FUNDING SUPPORT FOR KILBURN
The West Adelaide Hellas Soccer Club, its members, players, supporters and the wider football community acknowledge and sincerely thanks the South Australian Government through the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet for the Funding Support for the Kilburn SportsPlex Project.
The South Australian Government has provided $4.8 million to the West Adelaide Hellas Soccer Club to build a Regional Level Community Football and Sporting Facility; the Kilburn SportsPlex on land at the former Kilburn Primary School site.
1. Total investment into the project by the SA Government is $4.8 million. This was provided in the form of;
a) $500,000 grant to the WAHSC through the 2014/15 Community Recreation and Sport Facility Grant Program.
b) $4 million grant allocation through the FFSA as part of the State Governments 2016/17 State Budget announcement of a $10 million grant for the delivery of soccer infrastructure.
c) $300,000 in Premier's Community Initiatives Fund Round 2017-18
2. The funding as provided by the State Government has been for expenditure on the following components of the project:
a) All associated civil infrastructure; Roads Stormwater carparks and all services
b) Construction of the clubhouse
c) Construction of an artificial main pitch and grass training pitch
d) Installation of pitch floodlighting to the main pitch and training pitch
e) Construction of an undercover grandstand.
The project will deliver a Regional Level Community Football and Sporting Facility that provides for the current and future needs of WAHSC and the broader football community in the Western Suburbs. A facility that meets the FFA standards to host local, district (Regional), state and national level fixtures. While the primary purpose of the facility is for football, the facility also has the capability to be multi-use and cater for other sports such as touch football, rugby sevens and lacrosse.
The facility comprises:
a) A FIFA 2 standard floodlit artificial main football pitch with covered grandstand that can cater for local, district, state and national fixtures.
b) A floodlit grass training pitch for practice and general community use during non-match days.
c) A two storey multi-purpose community clubhouse with the lower level comprising changing rooms, medical treatment rooms, toilets, café/dining area and bar, kitchen and storage rooms and an upper level comprising club and community function area with bar, kitchen, toilets and storage rooms.
